Wednesday Walk - Winter Walk to Starved Rock State Park

Here is a nice Illinois winter walk for #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

It's been snowing quite a bit here. This poor bike got engulfed by the snow plows.

Now its off to Starved rock for a walk.

Horsetrack1.jpg
We stopped by a horse track on the way because the snow made it look nice and desolate.

Horsetrack2.jpg
Some tracks already broke up the nice even snowfall.

Now we have finally made it to Starved Rock State Park. We did a snowy climb up the balconies that overlook the Illinois River below.

Here's the view from the overlook. Nice winter desolation.

Now for a walk on the path above the cliffs before descending back down to the base of the cliffs.

Look at this frozen waterfall.

Here you can see the scale of the waterfall compared to my fiance and her mom.

Here is what the back of the waterfall looks like. The ice had a nice blue hue to it with stalactite formation shapes.

Starved Rock is a nice getaway from the typical office commute to downtown Chicago. This strange sculpture resonates well with my office drone commuter identity lol.

Happy #wednesdaywalk

Wow, thank you for this snowy walk. So nice the horse track photo, lovely. And the frozen waterfall is unbelievable (no photoshop, right? Just kidding ☺️)

hahah none of these were photoshopped though an abominable snowman would go well on the pathway picture.

Handsomely!
The frozen waterfall is incomparable!

Some people even practice ice climbing on those waterfalls.

Blimey!!!
This is the first time I've heard of this!

It is a pretty difficult sport to practice https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_climbing

Thanks for the link!
These are brave people :-)

Good to get out of the city and enjoy nature, that waterfall is cool, you captured the color of the water perfectly frozen in time.

Thanks, That ice was really solid, I couldn't even break a tiny piece off.

Beautiful!

It would look amazing with a powerful backlighting on the ice waterfall.

How cool is that...literally 😂... I hope you guys tousled through the untouched snow at the horse track...that's what I would have done lol.

Hahah sadly we were too busy trying to keep the wind out of our parkas.

Yap, I feel with you guys. Funny thing...like 3 days ago we had around 10°F and tomorrow it is supposed to be 64°F...global warming is making it possible...sigh

Up here in the north we welcome global warming lol. We get negative temperatures all the time up here.

😂 I know...Chicago got its name for a reason and the lake effects I know all too well. At least you have a lake lol.

Some of that cold wind blew into my parka on the way to work one day and I got almost uncontrollable shivering. I had to run into a random business to warm up.

Sorry but for whatever reason that picture in my head made me giggle...😆...I know it's not funny...well a little sitting on a warm couch 😜. Long story short maybe that is sth for you guys to handle the cold.

We are practicing ourselves and it is just plain awesome, so is Wim, his story and family. Highly recommended and there is also the scientific explanation why it is working coming with it.

A beautiful park, and the waterfall is something incredible!
