This post is for #seaphotography contest week 86, theme is ‘free’. It is a photo I took in Virgin Gorda last year.
Virgin Gorda is a small island in the Caribbean, part of British Virgin Islands BVI.
This island was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493. The shape of this island reminded him of a large woman in a reclining position, therefore he named the island ‘fat virgin’.
The actual curves of the island come from volcanic activities. There many volcanic craters on the island, as well as many boulders. In my photo you can see some boulders close to the shore. People like to swim and snorkel around boulders, as there is a lot of marine life to observe.
