I recently had the conclusion of my 70th trip around the sun, so I'm heading into year 71 now, and it has been a rough transition.
Normally I don't mind getting a year older, even my 40th didn't hit me as hard as this one did in early Aug.
I thought perhaps this guy had come to get me early ha ha
This gave me a better perspective on my 70th birthday

So I am getting older, and I hurt more and more each day, but...

I'm still dealing with the tree that WILL fall, trying to get an estimate now and hope to get the owner of the rental property next door to split the cost with me
So I guess what I'm saying it, you will never be completely safe, nor entirely happy in life.
Just be careful.

Not for the faint of heart

Hmm, there is so much sense in what you have written, sir. This one life of ours isn't for the faint-hearted. I'm sure as one is getting older, especially when someone is reaching a certain age, then you begin to wonder what is life is about and why we are here in the first instance and then you begin to question if you live a meaningful life and you made impact you ought to have made in people life.
The most scary part of it is when you the death comes, and this doesn't actually give a day nor give someone sign unless for those who are sick for a while before the death actually consume them.
I wish you a happy birthday, sir, and I hope you live long to witness a more meaningful existence.
Thank you @toluwanispecial .
Tell me, why is toluwan Special? ha ha... just kidding, we are all special
It's just a nickname, sir. Toluwani is my name!
I was surprised to find things going wrong with me in my 60s already. Somehow I had in mind it wouldn't happen 'til in my 70s. Now I look at people who are in their 70s, and I think I don't like the looks of it. LOL!
I look at myself in my 70's and I DEFINITELY don't like the looks of it.
Oh dear.
The tree that's gonna fall... there is a distinctive bend in that tree, below which there appears to be no bark at all. Was the bark decimated by woodpeckers, perhaps? I know the Pileated Woodpecker, at least, has been known to do that sometimes, completely stripping all the bark from a tree and the tree begins to die. Or was it something else that damaged the tree?
Not sure what you are seeing, but I've put a square around what I think may have been damage from a lightning strike in the past, it is black looking.

As is the other half that is now on the ground in the back of that lot
ah, so that is the same tree, from which a part fell recently! I thought this was a second tree that has problems! (Like you needed more problems.) Perhaps, then, the part of the tree that looks like it has no bark is where the other half split from, when it fell to the ground!
I do hope the neighbor (or his landlord) will split the cost with you. Having an entire tree removed can be expensive. GOOD LUCK with it!
Nope, I've not heard from the landlords, and now I've paid $5,600 for that tree, the diseased Christmas tree in my driveway, and some major dangerous limbs removed from the remaining oak in my front yard.
?share=copy#t=0That's why it is said that age increases but the heart remains young because experience is enough to live life.
Love the humor to contrast with the issues of trees and age
As we get older each year we have to keep our humor and our sanity
