Hola gente, hoy les traigo al dibujo más esperado de la pequeña comunidad de "Exprésate con los 5 para las 4", desde hace mucho tiempo me comentan en cada semana que quieren un dragón chef pues finalmente lo hice, y aquí les traigo el proceso.

Chirel, The Dragon Chef
Process | Proceso
I started with the sketch, originally I was going to do this dragon from the hip up, however, I reconsidered when I was making the lineart.
Empecé con el boceto, originalmente iba a hacer este dragón desde la cadera hacia arriba sin embargo lo reconsideré cuando estaba haciendo la línea.
For this drawing, I wanted to experiment with another way of coloring, so I filled the shape with gray and colored on top layers with a clipping mask, also I wanted to experiment with the grayscale coloring technique, however, I didn't like the lack of richness of the shadow color, so I discarded it.
Para este dibujo quise experimentar con otra forma de colorear, por lo que rellené la figura con gris y coloreé en capas superiores con una máscara de recorte, quise usar la técnica de coloreado con escala de grises, sin embargo no me agradó la poca riqueza de color de la sombra, así que lo descarté.
Using the shadows I made as a guide, I was shading layer by layer varying the tones and colors, I decided to remove saturation to the color of Chirel's skin, and therefore I had to change the background color, so it would not be confused.
Utilizando las sombras que hice como guía, fui sombreando capa por capa variando los tonos y colores, decidí quitarle saturacion al color de la piel de Chirel y por lo tanto tuve que cambiar el color del fondo, para que no se confundiera.
With the shadows ready I started to make the ingredients, that I made three to four versions of red and green bell pepper, carrot, onion, scallion, and shrimp, I changed their position and size and placed them in such a way that they made a sauté, I also made small particles of oil floating from the frying pan.
Yes, I know, the ingredients are jumping way too high for the size of the pan, but we already have a dragon cooking, which is a little more suspension of disbelief to pepper the draw. 🤣
Con las sombras listas me puse a hacer los ingredientes, para eso hice de tres a cuatro versiones de pimentón rojo y verde, zanahoria, cebolla, cebollín y camarones, los cambié de posición y tamaño y los coloqué de forma que hicieran un salteado, también hice pequeñas partículas de aceite flotando desde el sartén.
Si, lo sé, los ingredientes están saltando muy alto para el tamaño del sartén, pero ya tenemos a un dragón cocinando, que es un poco más de suspensión de la incredulidad para aderezar la obra. 🤣
With the ingredients ready it was time to set everything on fire, I made a concentrated flame coming out of Chirel's mouth that would ignite the flame and another reacting to the liquor with its respective cloud of smoke. With the main light source present, I finally placed the lights on Chirel.
Con los ingredientes listos, era momento de ponerlo todo en llamas, hice una llamarada concentrada saliendo de la boca de Chirel que prendería el flameado y otra reaccionando al licor con su respectiva nube de humo. Con la principal fuente de luz presente, finalmente coloque las luces en Chirel.
With the dragon ready it was time to make the background, at first I had no idea what to do, I was thinking of making a background similar to Ají, but there was a problem, and that was that I had put off the Chirel legs all this time and I had to fix it somehow.
The answer, as you can see, was to place a table in front of it so they wouldn't be seen 🤣 at this point in the drawing I had time against myself.
Ya con el dragón listo era tiempo de hacer el fondo, al principio no tenía una idea clara, pensaba hacer un fondo similar al de Ají, pero había un problema, y ese es que había postergado las patas de Chirel todo este tiempo y tenía que arreglarlo de alguna manera.
La respuesta, como puedes ver, fue colocarle una mesa enfrente para que no se vieran, 🤣 a estas alturas del dibujo no encontraba referencias que me agradaran y tenía el tiempo en mi contra.
Finally, I cut the excess space, detailed the background to make it look like a kind of restaurant, and added other little details, such as the lights and shadows on the ingredients, changing the angle of Chirel's flame, retouching the shadows on the Chef, among other things.
To finish I placed my signature and my stamp, the stamp I added discreetly to blend in my drawing, comment if you saw it 😉, et voila.
Finalmente corté el exceso de espacio, detallé el fondo para que se viera como una especie de restaurante, y agregué otros detallitos, como las luces y sombras en los ingredientes, cambiar el ángulo de la llama de Chirel, retocar las sombras en el Chef, entre otras cosas.
Para finalizar coloqué mi firma y mi sello, este último lo agregué de forma discreta para que se mezclara en mi dibujo, comenta si lo viste😉, et voila.
Chirel was a surprise even for me when I was tirelessly asked for a dragon chef, I could only imagine Ají in a little chef outfit, being small and adorable, however, when I searched for references I only got images of serious chefs with dark backgrounds, on the other hand, I couldn't resist using the idea of how convenient it is to be a dragon when you need to flame.
The name I chose is the hottest variety of chili pepper in Venezuela, I chose it honoring the idea that originally this chef was going to be Ají, but it grew and developed to be its own being.
Chirel fue una sorpresa hasta para mí, cuando me pidieron incansablemente un dragón chef, solo podía imaginar a Ají con un trajecito de chef, siendo pequeño y adorable, sin embargo cuando buscaba referencias solo me salían imágenes de chef serios con fondos oscuros, por otra parte, no resistí usar la idea de lo conveniente que es ser un dragón cuando necesitas flamear.
El nombre viene de la escogí variedad de ají mas picante que hay en Venezuela, lo escogí honrando la idea de que originalmente este chef iba a ser Ají, pero creció y se desarrolló para ser su propio ser.
