"Suspiria" by Luca Guadagnino. My movie poster

For a long time I could not decide which film to give preference to - the film "Suspiria" in 1977, the master of giallo - Dario Argento, or the new version that Luca Guadagnino showed us. I settled on the second option.
It is this involuntary comparison that is the first reason for the dislike of the new film. The recollections of the audiovisual extravaganza, colorful and hypnotic in my own case, imprisoned in my memory, prevented me from perceiving Luca Guadagnino's version, because compared to the explosive "bloody kaleidoscope" of 1977, the new film seemed to me monotonous and loaded with details.

But this does not negate the vivid images, beautiful frames, which I so wanted to draw this poster!

To properly evaluate the film, one must not only forget about the original picture, but also try to see in the new version an original work and a really good remake.

In addition to the eerie atmosphere and spirit of the 70s, the director perfectly painted portraits of witches, who are no longer caricatures of Nazi guards, as was Argento's. They are portrayed by a group of insane "old maids" who seem to represent the most repulsive forms that feminism can take.
The cinema itself is constructed as a gradually gaining force of Satanism with its surreal absurdity. This is a bright, spectacular and creepy movie, the greatest merit of which is the complete unwillingness to photocopy the original and the presence of a large number of author's ideas.

If after the first viewing you yourself are still hesitant and feel that the film is not getting out of your head, then give yourself a chance to understand the attitude towards it and try to watch the movie again. It deserves it.
