A study of a hand. Kind of boring, right? You try and draw and paint with watercolor and gouache a realistic-looking hand. I dare you!
I still struggle with drawing the human anatomy. This last winter, I worked on my hands. Who wants some homemade cookies and coffee whilst reading the old-fashioned newspaper?

I just drink coffee 😋👌👌👌 good art.
You can keep me company while I work. I have plenty of coffee and cookies because that's how I get my husband to do his chores. I bribe him with cookies! I am used to kids running around, but now they are all grown. I like working with people around me. When I go to group art sales, I always bring my work and sit around for hours waiting for a buyer.
That's why I take photographs .. can't draw for a lick .. 😊
Some of us just like pain hahaha pain..ting
dare me all you want—you win. Drawing the hand is one of the toughest things to get correct I think. Great job with the painting. Your practice would seem to be paying off!
Thank you @dbooster, I am improving. My confidence is still low. More practice is needed lolol like for the rest of my life.
Hands are a pain.
The worst is painstakingly drawing a perfect hand.... and finding its the wrong size for the body its attached to... so which do you erase, the hand or the body?
Then again, you can just make a blob with 5 digits, and everyone will recognize it as a hand.
On the other hand, what makes a hand look real has almost nothing to do with its outline. And this is where the real problem comes in. Especially in water colors. How do you paint fine crevices? How do you paint the fine texture that is fingerprints?
I suggest, throwing down the brush and running away!
(eat some cookies in a safe corner until the panic subsides)
I measure out the head and hands before I do anything. I learned the hard way, over and over for a year! It is tough to catch the details in watercolor and gouache, but I am trying. I have a bunch of large paintings about mythological Gods and Goddesses on my to-do list. Right now, I am working on Frigg, Odin's wife. I only run away from housework! hahaha
That hand looks pretty authentic. I drink more than my share of coffee. Enjoyed. BTW I would think the wood table would be just as hard to do.
The wood table was easy, weird, right? I think I have a mental block, lol
Wow, such an atmospheric and cozy picture @reddust
P.s: The hand and cookies look very realistic
Thank you @bugavi, my practice is paying off!

Coffee with cookies very deserve taste for evening time looking sunset. You made me desire like that feeling through this awesome painting. Absolutely stunning.
Thank you, I really struggle with perspective and hands. I can draw while you sip your coffee during the evening hours. Sounds heavenly :)
