Hi, hi, hello! ♥️ Nice to meet you again! Sorry for such a long break! Anyway - I'm here again, and for today I have for you some facts about the human skull and (ofc 😅) some of my arts.

1. Gender and Skull.
The human skull can tell you secrets about the human gender. How? That's an easy one! The bone in the male skull will be thicker than females.
2. Human Skull has 22 bones.
There 22 bones that make up the skull, but teeth don’t count ( teeth are not actual bones - they are composed of calcium, phosphorus, and other minerals. Bones contain calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and other minerals, but mostly consist of the protein collagen).
There are eight bones in the cranium:
- Frontal
- Parietal [two on each side of the head]
- Temporal bones [two on each side of the head]
- Occipital
- Ethmoid
- Sphenoid
While there are fourteen facial bones:
- Mandible,
- Maxillae [two]
- Vomer
- Palatine [two]
- Nasal [two]
- Zygomatic [two]
- Nasal conchae [two]
- Lacrimal [two]

3. And only one bone that moves
That’s right, the only bone in the skull that moves it’s your jaw bone.
4. The human skull is full of “holes”
Besides your peeper holes, your smellin’ hole, and your pie hole, the skull is full of tiny holes called foramina. These openings allow for the passage of the nerves and blood vessels that innervate the face. The largest hole in the skull is where the vertebral column joins the base of the skull and is called the foramen magnum.
5. Spaces Between Bones
The places where the bones in the skull join together are called sutures. The sutures close and solidify during childhood, but babies have soft sutures that provide some flexibility during delivery. There is an especially noticeable soft spot - a large suture - at the top of a baby's skull, known as the fontanelle.
