Hello there my lovely hivers!! It’s me again @justcallmepia. I want to share the situation of my sibling regarding Typhoon Tino that happened in Liloan, Cebu last November 04, 2025.

On November 05, 2025, my partner and I decided to return to the City because he had to go back to work that evening. While we were heading to the City, the ambiance was noticeably different in the areas affected by the Typhoon. It was very quiet and you could feel the sadness of the people you passed by.

As we arrived in Danao City, Cebu, we were surprised to see people covered with mud and gathering their belongings. We saw that their plaza was unrecognizable, filled with mud, and some houses were damaged due to the flooding. My partner and I were shocked because we had no idea what had happened in the City since we were in the province when the typhoon hit, and there was no signal throughout Cebu at that time, so we didn't know about the news.
We continued to check the areas, and when we arrived in Compostela, Cebu, they had experienced the same thing as Danao during the typhoon. But we were surprised by the heavy traffic. The vehicles weren't moving, and the motorists were stuck. We asked an enforcer why the traffic was so bad, what the reason was, and he said, "The traffic extends all the way to Mandaue City because there are many dead in Liloan, and it's difficult to rescue them." My heart pounded because my sibling lives in Cotcot, Liloan, and their house is very close to the river. I was very anxious, wondering what might have happened to them.

When we arrived in Cotcot, Liloan, we saw that they had experienced the worst. The area was flooded due to the river overflowing, and the flood control built by the government couldn't contain it. The vehicles were overturned, and the place was devastated; many people died 😭.
Further ahead, we saw my sibling and their pregnant wife on the side of the road, covered in mud. I was happy to see that they were safe and had evacuated immediately when the flood occurred. They were safe, but all their belongings were washed away, and nothing was left. All their appliances were soaked because the water had reached their house. They were very traumatized and saddened by what happened and the struggle they encountered.

(Sadly, this was the only thing that they bring because everything was swept away- a tumbler, three biscuits and two cans of sardines)
I saw the extreme sadness on their faces, and I couldn't help but cry at their situation. They work so hard in life, and it can all disappear in the blink of an eye. But I advised them not to give in to sadness because everything happens for a reason and has a purpose, and everything is temporary. We will rise again!! Just keep the faith in God. The important thing is that his family was safe, and the belongings can be bought again in the future.
Moving on, as the youngest sister, I couldn't bear to just watch my sibling in their time of need. My partner and I decided to help clean their house. We may not be able to help with their financial needs, but it's important that we can help even just with cleaning. My sibling was very happy that I sympathized with them during their downtimes in life. Since the weather was clear, we went to their house in Cotcot, Liloan.

(The photo was very heart breaking)
We saw that it was very muddy inside and outside of their house. The mud was almost knee-deep. As I watched, I felt a pang in my heart 😟. It was a great ordeal, but I know that everything happens for a reason. And when I looked at my sibling, who was very frustrated, they couldn't believe that the things they had worked hard for were all soaked in water, including their merchandise, which was their source of income, washed away by the flood.

(The moon shines bright like a diamond)
The moon symbolizes hope, and it proves that even though we’re facing struggles.. We can still rise again!!
We know that in our lives, we won't always have it easy. God will give us trials, and God won't give us trials that we can't handle. Despite the great trial given to my sibling, we are still thankful that their family is safe, unlike other families where some died, and some are still missing.
We should be grateful that despite every tragedy that happens to us, we are still given life to stand up and strive again. This time is not the same as before because we are used to the 'ber' months or Christmas being near, and our hearts are joyful and full of happiness. But some of the families, including those in Liloan, Cebu, and the rest that were severely flooded, including Consolacion, Cebu, Mandaue City, and Talisay Cebu, will not have a Merry and happy Christmas because some have lost loved ones, and others have lost their homes.
We are thankful that we are still living our lives despite the pain we are experiencing this year, still thankful because God still loves us and has not forsaken us.
Thank you for taking time to read, God bless you!

The damage your sibling and community endured is heartbreaking, yet the way you highlight resilience, gratitude, and the support of family brings a sense of light into all that darkness. Moments like these remind us how fragile life can be, but also how powerful it is when people stand together. Take care out there!
Absolutely dear hiver thanks for the support 🩷🩷
It's very heartbreaking. I won't even watch the news when I heard about the devastating disaster at Cebu and Negros Island Region when the typhoon hits. I hope more help would be given to all of those affected. God bless!
Hello there lovely hiver @ayane-chan In Liloan Cebu, still there are many families living in the side of the road because their homes was swept away by the flood. It's really heartbreaking seeing many people asking for help such as clothes, and foods. I hope that the LGU Liloan will help them. 🥺
