In lockdown times, is there a good reason to not play chess?
Last week we were off to a good start, tomorrow Friday at 20 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) will be the second round of the Hive Blitz Chess Tournament (original announcement with some more details here!

Free for all to join! Since it is played on lichess, you need a lichess-account in order to participate! Registration is done in no time (you just need a valid email address for verification).

RULES (updated)
- Free for players of all skill levels, from newbie to expert!
- Every Friday 20 to 21 GMT is one round, season 1 goes over 10 rounds
- Time mode is varying (5+0, 5+1, 3+2, open for ideas), rated, berserking allowed
- The tournament is open (for all, not only Hivers or Steemians)
- PAYOUT: The Season 1 will go for 10 rounds and points are summed up. All Hivechess-related post rewards are pooled and 90% go to the price pool. The winner will get 30% of that price pool, the second 20%, the third 10%, the rest is divided equally among the other players active on Hive or Steem, according to the rounds they have played. So everyone has a chance to get something!
- If I don´t know your Hive username, I can´t consider you in the rankings which are posted here (after first round), so please let me know your name in the comments (yes, I mean you, doc-holliday)
- The rules may adapt depending on your feedback, let´s see how it evolves
