Let me drop my two cents...
Worship for me is first a heart posture or position before the activity. In fact, true worship is captured in the state of the heart.
I like it as @jmis101 pointed that it is clear of distraction. That's why the emphasises is on the heart posture. Sadly, what we see today might not be acceptable as worship before God.
It's also necessary to mention that worship goes beyond an activity, but a lifestyle as a whole. It goes down to our words, thoughts, intentions, eating, conversations, relationships, dressing...just life in general.
If we must worship truly-in spirit and truth-then we must be sincere in it. You shouldn't be coerced, but that you've come to a point you acknowledge God's sovereignty and you pour it forth in adoration.
