It’s been quite a while since my last post.
For the past year or so, I’ve somehow struggled to write. I couldn’t quite put my thoughts into words, and I often had no idea what I even wanted to write about. That’s pretty much how it’s been. I’d get motivated and write for a few days, then take several weeks off — that cycle just kept repeating.
Today, though, I feel like I might actually be able to write something, so I’m using this as a little rehabilitation session to share a quick update on my current situation.
Recently, large-scale renovation work began on the rental apartment building where I live. It started at the beginning of March and is apparently going to continue until around June!Just two or three days after the work started, the scaffolding went up in the blink of an eye, and my balcony is now completely in the shade. On days when they’re working near my balcony, I basically keep the curtains closed the whole time (otherwise I’d end up making constant eye contact with the workers right outside the window).
Without sunlight coming in, the room gets pretty cold, so I’ve had the heater on all day, which means my electricity bill is probably going to be painful 😂 The security grille that used to be on the hallway-side window has also been removed, so I have to be extra careful about locking up. Since it’s obvious the building is under renovation, apparently there are people who target these kinds of situations — either sneaking in through the now-unprotected windows or climbing the scaffolding to get onto the balconies.
Every day, the construction schedule is posted on a whiteboard in the entrance, so I can check whether I’ll be able to hang out laundry the next day. By the way, today is a no-drying day.
It’s certainly inconvenient in many ways, but I’m genuinely happy that the building I live in is going to look beautiful again. I haven’t read the renovation documents in detail, but it seems the main work is on the exterior walls, so I’m looking forward to seeing the finished result.
The photo shows a maiden camellia (Otome Tsubaki) that I spotted while walking yesterday 🌺

What a gorgeous flower
Sending you some Ecency curation votes
Sounds like quite an inconvenient thing this renovation project. All the best and keep on Hiving. 💪🏻
