Some Kind of Anime Recommendation

in The Anime Realm3 years ago

Who would have thought that I would watch Anime? The thing is, I do. I just don’t say it out loud or even really ever write about that. I pretty much grew up with anime on tv playing every Sunday but the first anime that I enjoyed was ZNT or Zankyou No Terror, a psychological thriller anime about savant children surviving an experiment and wanting to reveal the organization's activities. This anime captured my attention especially with the riddles. There was a riddle reference from Oedipus and the Sphinx in that anime that I found interesting which got me into learning more about Greek gods, goddesses and the mythical creatures.

At the same time, there was also an anime that people my age were watching or rather obsessed about, it was Death Note. I even had some classmates who owned a note with black cover in it and was into writing stories over fanfiction.net. Though, unlike my peers and my cousins that time, I didn’t really care much about anime. I simply just had different interests. But as an adult, I happened to watch more anime and finally find enjoyment in it.

As of now, there are some anime that I am currently watching at least once or twice a week.1) Code Geass, 2) Golden Time, 3) Mushoku Tensei. I am pretty sure many of you have watched Code Geass as I have heard that it’s pretty famous. I have not finished all the episodes, so I can’t say if I am going to like it.

I am basically going to re-tell some of my personal experience watching those three anime thus far and perhaps, you might be interested in watching the anime I mentioned.

Personally, Code Geass is not the kind of anime I usually watch but I was interested in the story about a fictional Empire of Britannia conquering Japan when someone told me about it. Anything with mecha, I am also going to watch it and code geass ticks all of the list. If you ask me if I am invested in the character, I would not say so. I still find it hard liking Lelouch and the other characters. This often happens with my journey of watching anime. For example, when I watched Re:Zero in the first few episodes, I was struggling to like the characters but when it was reaching season 2, I started to like it. Then, a similar thing happened to Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken but an exception thus far is Mushoku Tensei which I will be telling you why I like it after the golden time. So who knows, that I will come back, writing a review about how I ended up liking Code Geass.

I was told that Golden Time would probably be something insufferable to me to watch. After watching up to episode 5, I would say that it wasn’t bad at all. I like the story though the characters didn’t really win my attention. It was not something that is too insufferable to watch, just something meh that even you and I could waste time on. It’s a good anime to watch while you’re eating and as a background noise. I know that I could drop this anime at any moment but well, I wanted to know the ending, whether there would be a happy or a sad one or leave me hanging and making some speculations.

And now, Mushoku Tensei, an anime recently caught my radar. By now, I have watched quite a bit of Isekai but I hardly like most of them. But this one, bringing a NEET into the story and bringing the life of NEET into the screen, I instantly love it.

Misery loves company and I suppose, this is where I find a company through anime that portrays the life of a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). The character is 34 years old NEET who lives in his parents basement until the parents pass away. He gets kicked out of the house and finds himself walking through the rain. Eventually, he decided that he would do something right. Then, he gets hit by a truck and transferred into another world where he is now a baby of Greyrat's Family and is named Rudeus. His family lives in the countryside of a world filled with knights and magic.

Though he is physically a baby, his mind and soul are still 34 years old. He comes off as pervy and so are almost every characters in this anime. For example, as a baby he likes to steal the family’s maid underwear.

What you can expect and find from this anime is basically a life of Rudeus navigating life in this new world with his old trauma of being bullied and his inability to ever step outside his room still attached to his memory.

But, in this new world, he finally steps out of the world and has some courage to talk to other children and even a girl. By the middle of the story, he realizes that he should have worked harder and faces his problem in the previous life. And now, he is trying his hardest if he faces difficulty while learning about his new world and also the magic spells. This is the part where I finished watching it but will continue watching sometime this week as season 2 has recently been released too.

I would say, among the two, this is something I can recommend to anyone who is looking for something new. I am very biased here because any anime, movies, cartoon that portrays a NEET life will have a special place reserved for me.

Well now, I wonder if you have watched Mushoku Tensei, let me know if you have and if you like it. Or maybe you can also comment about Golden time and Code Geass.

NEET life best life.
Would try Mushoku Tensei later.

If you're into Isekai and comedy, you may want to try Konosuba.

For fantasy, action and a bit of suspense, there's the Fate Stay Night unlimited blade works.

For the artistic screen display and not your usual anime visuals for story telling, there is the Monogatari series. Its like a puzzle pieces of perspective as told from several character viewpoints.

And then may some chill Isekai like that time I got reincarnated as a slime.

Sounds a lot of recommendations, I could also point you to the source of voice to skull program anime.

Nice, more anime to watch. I watched Reincarnated as a slime, finished the whole thing but left a little impression on me, it was an okay one for me.

Boku no pico.

Kimochii yamete.

Konosuba

rofl Kono Suba, Aqua all day

Nice, I've read Mushoku Tensei the Manga (as far as it is) and seen the anime up until now. It's cringe sometimes, but very loveable. The role of "God" is questionable and stays that way, but the animation and art style is inspiring.

It is cringe and that what makes it funny and good in a weird way. I also like the story telling and the characters. I'd find more time to read the Manga too.

Just tackle it and grind through, it’s not that large.

Drop good animes to watch.

Ah you watched re:zero! What a trip! That show choked me up, what a nightmare and dream. The characters are a little weird but the whole premise is cool, I love how it doesn’t sugar coat anything
