There is nothing better than feel that somebody connected with with the feelings I put in my artwork. the personal experience you have sahred and the history behind my piece, are different, but yet, the feelings are the same in both cases. I think that's the magic of be human beings, and the arts as well.
And you are right, the halo you choose to see is in fact and halo, and represents holiness.
Alhought it is not the main subject of the artwork, I can relate to your experience, I went trough something similar with my grandparents. Maybe I was a bit late, but also was able to acknowledge them and give back all the love they gave me. I'm sure this is something that probably has happened to most of the people, it seems we don't fully appreciate what we have until we are about to lose it.
