Hello hive! Happy day, night, or afternoon, hehe. It's been a long time since I've sculpted a character from scratch, and the lack of practice is noticeable haha. This is the character I'm entering this week in the Splinterlands contest, but I'm not finished yet. The process up to this point has taken me about 6 hours to work on, and when I practiced sculpting a lot, I had everything ready in that time haha. Do you know which characters they are before you continue advancing in the post?
Although I must admit that now I work a little better on the way of sculpting, and it's all thanks to watching videos that don't even explain the process XD but I pay close attention to what they do and they also give good advice and that's why I watch it, the thing is that they put the whole process accelerated and they talk about a topic about 3D art or personal experiences, and I entertain myself, strange but oh well XD
I'll tell you a little about the process. I started by making things in separate pieces. Oh, and by the way, I'm fusing the pieces with "remesh," and it's the first time I've worked this way. It's a little different from dyntopo, but I'm getting used to it. After putting together a fat, small doll, haha, I moved on to sculpting the face, which actually took me a long time. Well, I think I should have done the details later, but I think we're on the right track, or so I think. What do you think?

¡Hola colmena!

I remember getting into a massive argument with a friend once because she couldn't understand that there are different ways to get the same result and she was insisting that I was sculpting "wrong" (because I just do everything from a sphere or a cube with dynatopo if sculpting from scratch) and that the "correct" way was to do it by bashing prims together and then detailing it (similar to what you did here) and that was the "correct" way because that was how a friend of hers who had been doing 3d "for years" did it, and I was like I've done it about that long and bashing the prims together did my head in. She hates being wrong so was just like OH WELL THAT'S HOW HE DOES IT and abruptly changed the subject.
I think the legs might be a bit too short or the arms a bit too long but I don't know what style you're going for yet. The detailing is looking pretty good! :)
I used to do it like this, and in fact it's how I was used to it, but I wanted to try it this way, and I think it's easier, although it feels different doing it this way, the smoothing is not as violent haha. Ah, the character is a dwarf
If it's easier this way for you then it's a better way for you to do it :) and yeh it's a different way of thinking/visualising. Gotta find what works best for your brain! I went the other way (started by smashing prims together into the basic shape and then start detailing) and like I said it did my head in so I just started pulling everything out from the head (I would make the head out of the cube/sphere that I started with and go from there) which I'm going to say is much more inefficient as it does actually take me longer but it makes me much less angry XD
Gotta agree with you on dyantopo's very violent smoothing though! I cannot for the life of me work out what settings I need to tweak ^_^; I've found multires sculpt (most of what I'm doing at the moment now that I have most of my base models good to go) so much easier to manage (in general, going up and down levels can be a bit unpredictable).
For dwarves my understanding is the limbs should still be proportionate to each other while being short for the torso. Maybe it's the angle and/or the boots but the limbs don't look proportionate to each other to me. It might be fine once you have everything else in :)
Yeah, I'm trying it out like this anyway, and I'm liking it. I need to check the arms. It was a rough estimate. I hope it doesn't bother me too much.
