I SUCCESSFULLY MINTED MY FIRST HIVE NFT!
Hello guys, I'm thrilled to share with you guys that my first ever hive exclusive nft is currently available on nftshowroom as of now.
Ever since I became a part of the cryptoverse it was my dream to mint an nft by myself and today on 16th November 2022 it becomes a reality. I have seen other nft marketplaces such as jungle, opensea, oasis etc but none of them made it this easy to mint an nft by using a phone. The best thing about hive nftshowroom is that you don't need to know a lot of technical knowledge to mint one.
MY SHOWROOM BANNER
It's a very simple design. I just wanted to display my name in there so I made a simple background and added a gaussian blur on it to direct the attention to the title plus the blur gives a nice aesthetic feel to the banner.
I NAMED MY COLLECTION AS SOULS
My paintings are a part of me so I decided to use the word souls as the name of my collection. I know it's cringe XD. You don't have to tell me that but I didn't want to spend a lot of time thinking about the name.
DR BOLT: MY FIRST HIVE NFT
This is an Original Character I drew for Splinterlands Art Contest with the intention to mint it in the future. I already explained the character information on my Splinterlands blog so I'll attach the link to that here if someone is interested in reading it.

Additional note: My NFTs are hand drawn in nature and there will be only a single edition of each artwork unless I change my mind in the future.
THE VERIFICATION PROCESS
I was one of the lucky ones who got verified within the same day of submission of my application. I'm not very active on social media but it was necessary for verification so I used my Twitter account and used Peakd's portfolio for this purpose.
Instead of using other apps to make an art portfolio just use the built-in portfolio tab of peakd.
How to enable the portfolio tab?
Click on your profile picture on the top right side.
Scroll down and click on peakd settings.
Scroll down again to see the portfolio toggle and press it. This will enable the portfolio tab but there is a catch. It won't show anything in there unless you manually add the images that you wanna show there.
- To show your artwork in this tab go to your art blogs and hit edit then scroll down and press on the settings icon you see in the image below.
- It will open the advanced options and there you can find the toggle bellow to display your art in the portfolio tab.
Well, there you go!
Once that's done go to your portfolio tab to check if it's showing all your art in there. If it's working then copy that link and paste it into the verification form hehe. That's do the trick :)
HIVE KEYCHAIN APP
Unlike other dapps, the hive nft showroom won't let you log in without the hive keychain app. This is done for security purposes as copy-pasting passwords and saving them on a clipboard is vulnerable to attacks.
My struggle starts here
So I installed the hive keychain app and set my password but I couldn't login because when I try to login on the showroom site through its browser it was unresponsive. I'm not gonna lie, I was frustrated to see this because I was so close to minting an NFT. Luckily I have a brother so I used his phone but this time login wasn't the issue. The app was non-responsive when I try to upload anything in there.
The mods from the discord communities of the respective app and site suggested many methods but unfortunately, none of them worked fully. I was pretty down the whole morning because of this but then I remembered something!
Extensions! Extensions! Extensions!
It was pretty clear to me that the Android app was a dead end so I decided to try extensions and Luckily kiwi browser supports hive keychain extension and through it, everything was done and I easily minted my first nft.
I'm writing this here because if you guys encountered the same problem as me then the kiwi browser is the answer to your problems. After installing the browser just click on the 3 dot button to see the extension option. It will redirect you to the Chrome Webstore and from there search and install the hive keychain extension. After that's done click on the 3 dot menu again and scroll down until you see the hive keychain extension in there. Click on it and sign in through that. Once you logged in it should be ready for the nftshowroom site. Now visit the site again and login. The extension will pop up to do the rest. I hope this help people who have trouble logging in through the app.
Some questions before minting!
I felt like some of these questions were not covered in the guide so I'm posting it here if anyone wants to read it.
I have been blogging for a while now so I have more than enough HBD in my wallet to convert it to hive for minting the nft. After all this drama I finally minted my artwork on the hive blockchain!

Thanks Ema but this nft stuff is not new to me. I have been a part of a group which produces nft for Spice token based on BCH.
I'll celebrate when it sells 😂. Just joking because I already told you I'm saving green for a laptop haha.

I should have known! Although, I'm not familiar with Spice token yet. Yes, I do recall. With this kind of progress you'll get the laptop and a lot more notoriety in a short amount of time.
Question for you, on average how many hours a day, or what percentage of your day do you spend on art-related activities? :) curiosity
That depends on the lineart quality.if it's good then I'll spend the whole day working on it if I have to XD. I have lots of free time now so I'm using it. I think I'll be employed soon so there won't be much art making when it happens so I'm enjoying the best I can right now painting hehe.
Some days I just don't sleep and work on improving the art or thinking about concepts. It's not tiring since it's something I enjoy doing hehe.
All day on lines?! Wow you are dedicated. I lose patience at about the 1-hour mark. Yes, having an employer definitely has its benefits, although finding balance between work and play can be a real challenge sometimes. You're smart to "make your hay while the sun shines". In a perfect world we could all do what ever love and be compensated accordingly!
If you don't mind, what line of work are you entering?
No lineart won't take that long. Ist the painting part that takes most of the time. What I meant was if the lineart is bad then I don't proceed to painting.
As for the job I'm a fresher and a bcom student but don't know a thing about accounting so I'm going to end up in sales or as a customer care executive. I don't know if life has other plans for me.
What do you do if you don't mind me asking?
Lol, ah of course 😆 lines should be just the frame anyway. Well, depending on your end result and your style, of course. When I get to 5 hours on a painting, usually I'm already feeling pissed it took that long 😅.
Business makes the world go round. Plus, sales and customer service will take you a long way in life, if you nail the fundamentals. Getting along with people in a genuine way is a valuable skill, no matter what you do.
I work for a commercial mechanical services company, in the construction industry. I split my time between the office and the field. However, I have a degree in information technology that I've never used professionally :D
It's better to learn and apply certain life lessons when you're young. Don't give up on your dreams!
