Hello everyone dear community, have a happy day everyone, welcome to my art blog. We are back to another art post, a fan art dedicated to the splinterlands art contest, this time I chose a completely different character, this is the Silent Shavi card, a kind of giant blue snake with huge glowing orange eyes, I chose this character because I wanted to experiment with the design of a snake, I had never done a drawing like this, I found it a challenge to achieve realism in their skin, it was a very entertaining project to do and it was not as difficult as I imagined, I like the result, I hope you also like it.
Next I show you the step by step of the development of the illustration.
Hola a todos querida comunidad, tengan todos un feliz día, bienvenidos a mi blog de arte. Estamos de vuelta a otros post de arte, un fan art dedicado al concurso de arte de splinterlands, esta vez elegí a un personaje completamente diferente, se trata de la carta Silent Shavi, una especie de serpiente gigante y azul con enormes ojos naranja brillantes, me incline por este personaje ya que quería experimentar con el diseño de una serpiente, jamás había hecho un dibujo así, me pareció todo un reto lograr el realismo en su piel, fue un proyecto bastante entretenido de hacer y no fue tan difícil como me lo imaginaba, me gusto como quedo el resultado, espero que a ustedes también sean de su agrado.
A continuación les muestro el paso a paso del desarrollo de la ilustración.
Drawing development / Desarrollo ✏️
Taking as reference the photo that was presented, I made a semi-realistic adaptation of the card "Silent Shavi", keeping certain animated and fantasy details that characterizes the original character, the development of this drawing consisted in the use of the black and white technique, and then apply the color. Also for ease of drawing, I divided the body of the snake in different sections.
Tomando como referencia la foto que se presentó, realice una adaptación semirealista de la carta “ Silent Shavi”, manteniendo ciertos detalles animados y fantasiosos que caracteriza al personaje original, el desarrollo de este dibujo consistió en el uso de la técnica de blanco y negro, para luego aplicar el color. También para facilidad del mismo, dividí el cuerpo de la serpiente en diferentes secciones.
First I made a quick sketch of the snake, showing its body in different planes or layers, to give a depth effect, then I opaqued the sketch layer and in new layers I drew in grayscale the complete snake.
Primero realicé un boceto rápido de la serpiente, mostrando su cuerpo en diferentes planos o capas, para dar un efecto de profundidad, luego opaque la capa del boceto y en capas nuevas fui dibujando en escala de grises la serpiente completa.

For this step I started drawing the head, detailing all its parts, from the mouth, eyes and nose, as well as the first section of the body. I drew the scales one by one to achieve the skin effect. Then I added little touches of lights and shadows.
Para este paso empecé a dibujar la cabeza, detallando todas sus partes, desde la boca, ojos y nariz, además de la primera sección del cuerpo. Fui dibujando una a una las escamas para lograr el efecto de la piel. Luego agregué pequeños toques de luces y sombras.

Here we continue designing the other sections of the snake's body, to make the drawing process a little easier I copied some parts of the skin and adapted them to other areas and arranged the cuts so that they would not be noticeable.
Acá seguimos diseñando las demás secciones del cuerpo de la serpiente, para facilitar un poco el proceso de dibujado copié algunas partes de la piel y las fui adaptando a otras zonas y arreglando los cortes para que no se notaran.

Now we start with the painting of our drawing we use different mixing methods, among which we can name, soft light, multiply and add. As I apply color, I play with different shades and layers until I get the desired result. I also recommend playing with the color curve that helps to adjust the values in the design.
Ahora empezamos con el pintado de nuestro dibujo usamos distintos métodos de mezcla, entre los cuales podemos nombrar, luz suave, multiplicar y añadir. A medida que aplico color, voy jugando con diferentes tonalidades y capas hasta obtener el resultado deseado. También les recomiendo jugar con la curva de colores eso ayuda a ajustar los valores en el diseño.
