Work in Progress! Sage ♥

in ArtBees3 years ago

Hey everyone! Since I've already caught up in posting my old works, I've decided to post a WIP I'm working on! It's still very rough but I was so happy with the face render ;-; (Still needs a lot of work tho)

It's far from done but you get the idea >u< As I was looking at the rough sketch with colors, I found it very... lacking. Like the colors were too similar, no contrast. I decided to add blood splatters in hopes that it would add contrast in the colors but I'm not sure if it worked... I am yet to add dramatic lighting and all that but let me know what you think! Also, if you have any idea how to keep it 'interesting' (because I really don't think the blood splatter is doing the trick), please let me know in the comments!

Somehow, I resisted the temptation to render it part by part and actually had the colors laid down before I rendered it! Well, except for the hair... I like painting it last so I can just paint over/under layers so I can make it as fluid as I can :> I'm planning to put an orb on her hand but I haven't added it yet as I'm not sure yet if I want to... My choice of color is still pretty bAD and even though I feel like my rendering is pretty decent already, my choice in colors is really pulling the entire piece down ;-;

My anatomy is still really wonky and doing these twisty angles is very ambitious of me bUT it's fun 😫 For this one, I actually used a splash art from League of Legends as reference :>

I won't be putting my usual footer on this one because it's just a WIP >u<

Oof this angle, I should probably attempt it again but I still hate it from my last attempt x_x

Now if I'd caught you during the sketch phase I would have suggested centralising the gun a little more and turning her shoulders (and possibly entire body) to line with it (I'm currently assuming from the angle that the viewer is getting shot at least towards if not at XD). From this particular angle her head probably needed to be straighter (I have a feeling from the previous pieces that you really like drawing 3/4 heads XD) as in looking more forwards towards the viewer and possibly tilted sideways to sight down the gun if you wanted something a little more dramatic.

That face rendering is looking really great so far, and I love the swooshy hair shape, that's going to look amazing when you're done, and everything else is coming along nicely :D

Even with reference I still found it mega hard to make it look right ;-;

I think I can try to turn her body a bit and put the gun in the center a bit more but since I got excited and rendered it a bit already, I'm not sure how far I can turn her uwu Now that you've mentioned it... I do draw a lot of 3/4 faces... Maybe it's the only angle I can do >u<

Yeah, if she were aiming down sights that would look really cool! I can try to manipulate her face too but then again dum me rendered already... I'm not sure how far I can manipulate it ;-;

Thank you so much for the comments!!! Really appreciate it ♥

Don't worry, it's hard to make look right even with bases.

Hell it's hard to make look right in a render, I remmber posing a (very badly modelled) character in a similar pose a very long time ago and the render looked off XD

It's just a hard freaking angle, you may have to revisit a few times (and I don't think any of us are going to complain about that XD).

If you really wanted to, you could line the rest of the body up with the face and have the gun vaguely pointed offscreen so it looks like she's just come to the rescue of the viewer and is shooting an antagonist offscreen, otherwise carry on as best you can and keep things in mind for next time :)

Ooooh that's a pretty good idea... but I kinda already got the gun down ;-; Maybe an alt version 🤔
