Over my posts about the Brisbane Broncos' 2026 season I've made mention of the mounting list of injuries (and other things) sidelining key players. Their win-loss record isn't great and they sit just outside the eight (eight go through to the finals after the preliminary rounds) after seven games but with so many stalwarts out including pivotal play-makers the season is in jeopardy.
A win is a win and the "skinny win" over Wests Tigers (21-20) last round helped but with a growing list of unavailable players I'm worried for the future of this season.
Here's a list of their unavailable players to date
- Reece Walsh - Fractured cheekbone
- Payne Haas - Grade 3 MCL
- Ben Hunt - Grade 3 MCL
- Kotoni Staggs - Plantar fascia strain
- Billy Walters - ACL
- Corey Jensen - Pulmonary embolism
- Cory Paix - Concussion
- Grant Anderson - Grade 3 MCL
- Jesse Arthurs - Interosseous membrane tear
- Aublix Tawha - Broken eye socket
- Delouise Hoeter - Broken leg
- Blake Moxer - Broken jaw
- Patrick Carrigan - Suspension (Careless high tackle)
- Ben Te Kura - NFL training camp USA
The boys are hanging in there, the outfit is not known for giving up, and the chaps that take the field give a lot each week which has helped them (barely) keep their heads above water as far as the ladder goes but they can hardly afford many (or any) more injuries I reckon.

Man, those are some serious freakin' injuries. Ain't no "turf toe" on that list.
Currently baseball season here. Been watching the Atlanta Braves take an early lead in their division this year. They are playing well. Like your Broncos, they had a lot of folks on the injury list last year. Hopefully they are not so injury prone this year.
It's a pretty brutal sport and the injuries tend to align with that I guess. The upside is the younger players getting blooded through necessity and to be sitting just out of the eight I reckon it's not too bad. The issue is the fact the season isn't even close to half way through and what may happen in the next several games as far as injuries; of course, some of the current unavailable players will come back to play but many are long-term injuries (many weeks).
I hope your Braves can sustain their good form and make it through to the pointy end of the season in an injury-free run. We get the baseball live here and I've watched a game here and there.
It is also during these trying times for teams, that lesser known players step up and over achieve at times.
Yep and sometimes they go from strength to strength and excel. I think it's like certain people in a unit, fly under the radar until something special is required and then just stand up and operate with precision and a laser focus. Seen it many times in my career.
Juventus is doing decently but it's not a great team like it used to be...
Lot of injuries there, a team basically
Injuries are part and parcel of playing sport, I certainly had my own with some requiring surgery and difficult recoveries but sometimes teams just really struggle with rough patches where injuries come thick and fast.
when a team has a lot here, they blame always the equipe of the coach but not sure if it's correct
The same happens here, seems to always fall on the coach. There's a heavy responsibility of course, but it's the players doing the playing right?
que buena esa de que los jugadores menos conocidos tienen que dar un paso al frente, aveces salen joyas ocultas en medio de la crisis, no todo es malo. saludos desde venezuela galen.
good one about how lesser known players have to step up, sometimes hidden gems come out in the middle of a crisis, not everything is bad. cheers from venezuela galen.
Indeed.
Also, putting Spanish text into your comments to me is pointless as I don't read in Spanish.
