Over the years I've learned a thing or two in various ways and methods; the lessons haven't always been pleasant to acquire, but have also come in less difficult ways - in truth though, the best or most valuable lessons were gained from the most difficult times.
Whether those lessons came in ways that were good, bad or indifferent what's been consistent throughout is that they all helped the next day, week, month, year and decade be better, easier or more productive (and made me better equipped for the future) and that's what has led me to this point in time at which I can say, I've led a happy, enjoyable and meaningful life as I see it. And all because I linked those lessons together one by one.
A lot of things have combined to teach me those lessons and there's many elements to the lessons themselves so narrowing down to just a few is difficult however there's a phrase I said a long while ago when I was addressing a group/unit of people I was leading at the time and I liked it so later wrote it down as best as I could remember. I felt it might be nice to share here in the hope someone might see and understand it then work out how the concept might apply to their own life so here it is, or at least a paraphrased version of it:
"Find your focus, clarify and sharpen it, as through focused mind and actions you'll discover discipline. A strong sense of discipline will generate into habits and behaviours which will carry you forward more confidently. Habitual behaviours lead to consistency so make your habits good ones and those that move us towards set goals and outcomes. Through consistently applying those principles and the elements required for each, optimal results and an acceptable level of success will be unlocked. You are the key."
Have you ever come across a phrase, or come up with one yourself, or linked a series of concepts together to create a tangible and positive effect upon your life? If so, what is it, how did you come by it and how has it changed your life, or other's? Feel free to comment below.

I loved your quote. The key is always yourself; things don't happen on their own.
Let me tell you something: many years ago, I heard a quote on television, I think it was in a cartoon, but it resonated with me and it went something like this: Anything is possible if you can imagine it. The mind and self-control combined with action is what creates things. First create it in your mind, then take action.
I wrote a poster with that phrase and put it up in the classroom where I taught so that it would inspire all my students.
Your Ruggedly Handsome too..?
Well... I consider myself a beautiful woman, I really like myself... does that count? Rude... well... it could be, ha ha ha.
One of my favorite quotes is from anime One Outs: a low possibility means that it is not zero.
If the possibility, however slight, has been created... it can happen, but it depends on whether action is taken. That's how it is.
I wonder, what have you heard talked about or presented as a "valuable self development concept" but you didn't agree with?
When I started on this path, I came across many things that I ultimately disagreed with. For example, that by visualising you could achieve what you wanted and things like that. Without action, there is nothing. Often there were people who told you half the story, the teachings were incomplete, and I don't agree with that.
Then there are people who believe in destiny or in a god who gives things and punishes... I don't agree with that at all.
Oh yeah, that manifestation bullshit and imaginary friends...quite ridiculous.
The metaphysical plane exists, but... that alone does nothing... mind and action must go together, otherwise... sitting on a sofa, nothing will happen.
Exactly! A person has to actively work towards what it is they want. I agree with you.

It has helped with my self confidence. It comes across as a joke but really is a self esteem booster.
Cuz I am Too Sexy for my shirt, so sexy it hurts... 🤣
You surely are, everyone knows it.
I think that solving puzzles has given me patience and stubbornness that I am now using in my art. Also back in school and studying years I tried writing books. A continuation of Lord of the Rings, detective... and fantasy book of my own. I did not finish any of those books but now more than a decade later I came up with idea to turn my fantasy story into manga. I still need to learn a ton of things to make this happen. So far I only created a cover for my manga, a few posters and first page. But I am happy that art keeps surprising me. Also it is interesting how one idea can years later change and turn into something completely different.
It's interesting how thought progression changes and from a seemingly simple idea other ideas come to the surface. Good luck with the manga, keep leaning into it.
Well it's true discipline is a must to succeed in something, example sport, how can you focus on it if you don't have a routine and habits to improve your body and keep it trained? So have the discipline to do your daily exercises... But list is endless
Personally I like this phrases :
That applies in various fields, on yourself, if you make a mistake, don't destroy yourself on it and spend nights asleep, it can happen, just learn from it, but it can apply to others, it's better a double check yourself or listen different opinions
That's not really impacting on a normal life, just that you shouldn't take for certain everything media tells you, use your brain. My parents often come to me and say "on TV they said this and on newspaper this" believing it blindly... I always have to correct them, use your head don't let others think for you!
Good phrases and concepts. I wonder, what is the phrase or concept that has had the most positive impact on your life?
This is a tough one, if I think about it, as a concept I'd say "don't care about what others think about you, think with your head and do what you feel like is good"... I can say this impacted positively because as youth I didn't follow the crap path of bad friendships to alcohol abuse, vandalism and similar just to follow the mass, as older for example my parents didn't like my studies, yet I followed them and it allowed to build my life, later they didn't want that I would go live with my future wife, I did anyways and now we are still togheter with a kid now
I actually do care what other people think of me, the thing is those people are people who I value and care about and I act it ways that will make think we'll of me and feel proud of me. People that don't matter to me ..well, I don't give a fuck what they think.
But, I know what you mean I think. Yours saying to be your own man rather than follow others just to fit in. (I think)
I value and care for my parents but I had to disappoint them to follow my path (they are fine now, it's been a thing of some weeks the disappointment, not forever)
Be your own man, yes you worded it right the concept
My wife and I say "It is what it is" quite a bit to each other. I think a lot of people don't like that phrase because it can be seen as dismissive or alouf, but it is important to realize there are things you just can't control and letting go of those things will make your life much happier and stress free. In fact there is a whole "Let Them" movement now that fits really well with It is what it is.
Yeah, that's a saying for sure and it applies to things that a person cannot control or should pertain to those things. The problem is when people apply it to things that are controllable but are complex, difficult or where risk is involved, the risk of failure for instance. That's when it means, I'm too lazy or afraid to work towards something.
Yeah, that definitely fits as well. One of the many downsides of having ADHD is that we often put off doing things we think will be hard or difficult. In those cases, it is not a good mantra to have!
Yeah, challenging when things like that gets in the way.
Circumstances I went through recently made me rearrange my priorities in life. Things that were of no value, I was giving priority to that they did not deserve, and I was prioritizing them over things that deserved to be and must be among my priorities.
An adjustment of behaviours that are not conducive to one's progression and growth is a good adjustment to make. A person is rewarded commensurate to their level of ownership, responsibility and effort.
Your words reminded me of something I always say to myself: 'Be the person your future self will thank.' It's amazing how discipline really does snowball into better habits and eventually a better life.
Life should be built on discipline.
Yes I just saw one in your post as I read you are the key " truly I am the key and I can open many doors good or bad is in my hands as I tried opening a very good door recently at first it was easy but going in it became harder because there are door after doors and I will keep opening untill am finally in thank you
You're on the right path I think.
Yes ooo I am 🙏
