На фото зображена частина вулиці Хрещатик, яка знаходиться ближче до Європейської площі. По суті, це самий початок вулиці, з протилежної сторони знаходиться Бессарабський ринок. Як відомо, Хрещатик - центральна вулиця української столиці. Свій початок Хрещатик бере в 1897 році коли Хрещата долина, а також місцевість яка називалася «козячим болотом» почали активно забудовуватись. З тих пір тут виникла вулиця всім відома в теперішній час.
The photo shows a part of Khreschatyk Street, which is closer to the European Square. In fact, this is the very beginning of the street, on the opposite side is the Bessarabian market. As you know, Khreshchatyk is the central street of the Ukrainian capital. Khreshchatyk dates back to 1897, when the Khreshchaty Valley, as well as the area called the "goat swamp" began to be actively built up. Since then, there is a street known to all now.
Під час Другої світової війни та німецької окупації Києва вулиця була суттєво зруйнована. Сьогоднішній облік вулиці Хрещатик був створений в 50-х роках минулого століття, коли вулиця була грунтовно реконструйована та забудована будинками, переважно в стилі «сталінського ампіру». На фото видно дореволюційні будинки, які вціліли під час війни. Зокрема Це будинок № 6 («Будинок Закса» архітектор Йосиф Зекцер, 1911 1914 роки), будинок № 8 (будівля Петербурзького банку архітектор Л. Бенуа, 1911 1914 роки), будинок № 10 (будівля Волзько-Камського банку, архітектор П. Андреєв, 1912-1913 роки).
During the Second World War and the German occupation of Kyiv, the street was significantly destroyed. Today's account of Khreschatyk Street was created in the 1950s, when the street was thoroughly reconstructed and built with houses, mostly in the style of the "Stalinist empire". The photo shows pre-revolutionary houses that survived the war. In particular, it is house № 6 ("Sachs House" architect Joseph Zekzer, 1911 1914), house № 8 (St. Petersburg Bank building architect L. Benoit, 1911 1914), house № 10 (Volga-Kama Bank building, architect P. Andreev , 1912-1913).
