Proclaiming in the Midst of a Headache

in Freewriterslast month

There are times when really the head turns like the compass is broken; every way looks wrong; and the only word that one would like to scream is: proclaim. To proclaim, scream, announce to an outside world, "I am dizzy!"

Ironically, we feel that need to say something when our mind is confused. Headaches, fatigue, or muddled thoughts often go rather hidden. Yet that itself can be the best medicine-proclaiming the affliction as from twirling dizziness to freedom of expression.

As if he were an orator who has misplaced his speech notes, he had two options: staying silent and therefore swallowing the panic, or proclaiming, in the most gross honesty, the muddle he is in. Dizziness becomes fuel rather than an adversary, an energizing impetus that leads out into a new rhythm.

Such art may be what is put into living; instead of getting dizzy inside, one simply admits it, speaks it outside, and tells a world that thoughts spinning can forge directions.
