Just this past month I attended a very interesting wedding. There was a lot to eat, drink and eat again. What stresses me out about Nigerian weddings is they don’t joke with looks. Every one shows up dressed to stand out and you just have to follow the trend.
I was the chief bridesmaid so even if I didn’t want to dress up, I didn’t have much of a choice. We started with the makeup, which by the way I have no idea how some ladies have the patience to do this every single day.
The makeup took forever. The makeup artist kept going and adding layers upon layers of makeup to my face.
After what seemed like the tenth layer of makeup, she was finally done. I felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my face, let’s not talk about the lashes that felt like a roof over my head.
All through the wedding all I could think of was when I would be able to touch my face again. I mostly taught of how satisfying it’ll be to remove the lashes. I love
when I see my fellow ladies all glamed up but I don’t think I have the grace for it. I made a mental note to myself, “never again.”
Anyways I bonded with the caterer of the event just so I could eat whatever I wanted. My plan worked, I ate and drank a lot. The food was the highlight of the wedding for me.
I think you should add attending at least one Nigerian wedding to your bucket list. You won’t regret it.
