Pa Goatee was the longest lived ram in all of Sheepfield. Over the years, Pa Goatee has nurtured and witnessed the lives and deaths of many rams, yet he was spared by his shepard. Other rams believed he was favoured over them all. Others believed it was luck, and others believe absurd things.
As the eldest one, the rams of Sheepfield would go to Pa Goatee, seeking his advice or words of wisdom on situations that seemed hard to tackle even though most of them thought he was crazy. He would effortlessly bring calm to a threatening situation with his wise ways despite his weird ways.
Often times, he would journey up the nearest hills to meditate and think straight. It became a habit since his first witness of a tragedic death of his closest friend who was crushed by a fast moving train. He still felt guilty about not being able to have helped his friend, rendering his friend's wife a widow and her kids, fatherless.
They were on a road trip. Just taking a walk after having a lush early dinner when they walked too far. Trying to cross over the train tracks that stood as a border between their field and the outlands, Pa goatee's friend had his hoof stuck on the track. After unsuccessful trials to help out his friend, a moving train came into the picture, cruely claiming the life of his beloved friend.
It was a day that came back to his mind with flashes like it all just happened yesterday. To get his serenity back, he would meditate up on the hill and sometimes cry about his long loss. Every passing day he would wish for his own demise.
"I have lived a long time - a fulfilled life. Death is just an abstract to me now". These words he would murmur sometimes and on other cases, he'd say out loud, creeping the inhabitants of Sheepfield.
Describe what you see/feel: I see a ram, almost spotless, with a relatively long goatee, sitting on it's knees, tilted to his side like in a relaxed form. I see it seems to be seated on a hill top, having other hills in view. I feel that the ram is fearless of whatever is to come it's way, prepared for anything.
I understand what Pa Goatee means. One needs to live long enough to not feel creepy because of his words. Death indeed is an abstract.
