Desafiando a la muerte
con el que soñé anoche,
¿o será acaso que lo recordé?
que amenazaba con salpicar
la pulcritud de mi atuendo,
y estuve a punto de trastabillar.
con quien sonaba su claxon en el congestionamiento,
como si con ello lograra
que el tiempo pasara menos lento
o los autos pudieran avanzar.
después de vivir todo aquello,
y lo primero que hiciste fue gritar antes de saludar.
En por lo menos una de estas situaciones
desafié a la muerte sin saberlo.
Me pregunto cual será.

Defying death
I dreamed about last night,
or did I remember it?
that threatened to splash
the neatness of my attire,
and I almost tripped and fell.
with whoever was honking their horn in the congestion,
as if that would make the time
pass less slowly,
or the cars might move faster.
after living through all that,
and the first thing you did was scream before you said hello.
In at least one of these situations
I defied death without knowing it.
I wonder which one it is.
