A fun moment with some hungry critters, and a cute family.

Early today I was at work, and I showed a co-worker this picture.

She complemented the picture, and then said it's a little off balance. Yet I see what you were trying to do. I laughed to myself, because immediately I flashed back to my experience behind the picture. This moment, combined with the #freewrite challenge prompt from a day or do ago. Is the creative force behind this post.

Last Friday I got out of work, and felt that I needed to go to the local small beach. It's slowly becoming my favorite spot to sit and write. Yet this time I wanted to go, because I felt my attitude needed a lift. So I left work. Got a sandwich at the local sub shop, and headed down there. I wasn't really planning on taking pictures, but I had my phone just in case.

Upon arriving, I was surprised at how many cars there were in the parking. I've never seen so many people there. It wasn't over crowded. I'm just use to there only being a fewb people. As I parked my car, and scanned the area. I saw a family of geese. Just chilling among the people. The people were sitting chatting, and the geese where scavenging the ground.

Not wanting to waste the opportunity. I hurried to where they were, and started taking pictures. Slowly getting closer.

Remembering my sandwich, I ripped a couple pieces of the bread, and threw some. Hoping they would come closer. Well it turns out they weren't shy. Wanting a better shot, I got down to one knee. One hand reaching into my sandwich bag, and throwing pieces of my bread. The other balancing the phone. Not expecting that the geese would come right up to me.

So now I'm at eye level, and the babies were right next to my knee.

One of the parents was standing in front of me. Looking at me. Eye to eye.

I struggled to maintaining balance. As I tossed bread to them, hoping to get them in a position. Slowly and strategically with my left hand. While balancing my phone, and taking the picture with my right.

In no way did I want to startle them. I was at eye level with the parent. Who was uncomfortably close to my face.

That's when I realized, there were tiny fleas coming up from the grass. Who also appreciated the free meal. Mainly my arm, and head. Yes I'm kinda bald. The whole I the parent in the eyes, hoping it understood that it's babies were safe. Fighting the urge to swat away the party crashers. Anxiously expecting to be dm fed also.

*A few people walked by and smiled at us. Mainly at the geese, yet with occasionally eye contact. At me. Kneeling on the grass among them. Taking there picture with one hand, while feeding the guess with the other. I needed to toss the bread slightly away from me so I could get them in the picture, and away from me. Occasionally staring at my arm, thinking. Please get off me.

Now technically this isn't a 5 minute #freewrite. Yet it was inspired by the #freewrite prompt from Thursday, and technically the #freewrite Challenge for this weekend, hosted my @mariannewest. Allows the use of any of the previous prompts from past challenges supported by the #freewriters community. Either way. I hope you enjoyed my fun, challenging, and giggle worthy experience shared with a family of geese. Witnessed by everyone present during that moment.

For more information on the five minute #freewrite Challenge here's this weekend's post. https://hive.blog/hive-161155/@mariannewest/weekend-freewrite-6-13-2020-single-prompt-option

What an interesting experiment! Great shots and I commend your patience and intentions with it.

Thank you. I didn't really think it through. I just wanted to take their picture before they left. Yet they really weren't scared of people. They were picnicking along side everyone. Lol

Oh my, a wonderful photo opportunity combined with fleas. You got some great shots!

Yeah, it made for a good giggle. After I took the shots, shook off the bugs, and sat eating me sandwich looking at the view.
