Adriana awoke paralysed, as usual, as she felt the evil entity approaching.
Its long limbs grabbed her by the throat, cutting off her air as her eyes bugged out in terror.
Katy slept on, oblivious to her friend's plight.
Through her blurred vision, Adriana caught a glimpse of the silver cross Katy had given her earlier that day.
With the last of her strength, she reached up and pressed the crucifix
against the creature's ghoulish forehead.
The creature recoiled with an unearthly scream and loosened its grip just enough for her to exhale one last sigh before collapsing, dead.
The next morning, sunlight was streaming through the window as Katy awoke.
-Adriana, -she asked sleepily, and froze in horror.
Her dear friend lay dead, dark grey bruises circling her throat.
Katy's cries of anguish could wake the dead.
Between wracking sobs, she saw a piece of paper in Adriana's limp hand.
Unfolding it with trembling fingers, Katy read the ominous message:
-You can't save them all. I'm coming for you now.
