How do I write a poem that contains what love so longs for, if love, in times of uncertainty, becomes something to be feared, for one fears to lose the beloved?
Simulating a game of chess, humanity faces a very capable enemy, and there is no master move that can prevent us from losing the game.
Pawns, knights, bishops, rooks and our queen fall, and so does the king.
But before it falls, we see each of these fundamental pieces fall. The power of this enemy is such that we bury love so as not to suffer too much from the losses, becoming apathetic and even unloving.
For the worst fear is not losing the battle, but seeing those we love die in battle.
How can I, as a poet, give back to my pen those spirits of freedom with which I used to fly with my inspiration, giving rhymes full of hope?
If today we battle like Don Quixote against windmills that predict doom, will we have the mettle and fortitude of the aforementioned Hidalgo or will we succumb to the idleness of giving up the beautiful kissing and that comforting caress before the embrace, or the exciting aroma of two naked bodies and that deep breath in the search to represent the blush of our skin in a moan free of banal appearances?
vThe answer springs forth amidst the existing dryness of a fierce winter left behind by the arrival of a blooming spring. And with that representation, I give freedom to my dreams, letting myself be carried away to the rumour of a magical awakening wrapped in sheets and in that typical exalted breathing that denotes that we are still alive and that love never dies when one truly loves.
For even when adversity seems overwhelming, love rises like spring after winter. It is the force that drives us to face challenges, to reclaim our dreams and to hold on to hope. The how is in each of us... and love always flies above without limits, without impossibilities.
