It rained and I had to just sit on the bench on the park, wet and cold. Lisa had just thrown her coffee on me, and stormed away moments before. I guess that I probably deserved it, I mumbled and wiped the sour stuff off my jacket. I had missed our anniversary twice in a row, and even on top of it, I had taken it lightly and joked about it. She had even prepared a picnic and even had bought me a ticket to that jazz gig that I adored. I was too engrossed with life and being selfish in my own ways. And the cold amounted now for silence between us. Still people walked by and some stared. I did not care. I was still and wet and sitting there, hoping she would call. Wishing that she would excuse. Down inside I knew, though. I was well merited.
