Part 4
The morning sun is shining. A fair is being held in the village today, on the occasion of the annual puja. People have come from far and wide, there is noise all around, the calls of hawkers, the laughter of children, the village seems to have been decorated with new colors.
Rahat also went to the fair with his friends. But his mind was stuck somewhere. In the crowd, his eyes kept searching for only one face, Tania. His friends were wandering around the toy and sweet shops, but Rahat's mind could not settle. Suddenly, Tania came into view. Wearing a light blue saree, earrings in his ears, and a sweet smile on his face, she looked different today. There were his friends by his side, but Tania seemed to stand out from the crowd.
Time stopped as soon as they met. The sounds around her faded, only their eyes remained locked on each other. Rahat wanted to move forward, but fear worked in his heart. What could be said in the midst of so many people? But there was a hidden expectation in Tania's eyes, as if she too wanted something to happen.
At one point, the crowd of the fair pushed the two of them together. So close that they could touch each other. Rahat dared to say, "Are you okay?" Tanya paused and smiled and said, "Yes... you?"
The words were small, but they stirred a storm in her heart. Just then, the crowd grew, and under the pressure of the people, they moved away again. Rahat felt like some invisible force was repeatedly pulling them closer and then pushing them away. When everyone was returning home at the end of the fair, Rahat was standing to one side. Suddenly Tanya looked back. There was a strange promise in that look, as if she wanted to say, this path does not end here.
That night, Rahat looked at the stars in the sky and said to herself, "Today I am sure. This is not a coincidence, this is a game of fate. If one day I drown, that drowning will be for only one name, only for you."
