Feline Evolution

We did not choose to be born in the city, now bear with us. There are way too many us in this town. We might have been designed to procure our own food, but, given the circumstances, we have … you can call it, evolved.

Unlike some human subjects, whose numbers have increased recently, and some members of our species, who disgustingly ravage the streets in search of food, we order ours by the sheer power of our minds. Unlike most primitive humans who have to use complicated devices and payment systems to summon theirs, our food is timely delivered free of charge and without us having to move a paw.

We resent being judged by the transgressions of a few. There are many communities here. Each one behaves differently. I have seen some unpolished and violent behavior in some communities and, like in any human settlement, that reflects negatively on everyone around.

We have made a big effort, though, to remain civil.

Believe it or not, we have a system. We are very open to membership provided they follow the rules. Anyone behaving rudely or improperly, is automatically expelled from the community.

One of our main virtues is patience. We can detect our fish provider blocks away, and we know he makes several stops. We wait patiently in our respective areas and assign an order to every member depending on their alertness when the fish rider approaches.

The fish rider knows our system and conducts himself accordingly, serving every member in the implied order.

We do not tolerate poor manners. Every diner respect others’ food. We have already developed certain predilections and the server already knows them by heart.

Some of us like the tails, others like the heads, and others prefer the guts.

I only eat fillet and I patiently wait for it to be served on my window sill. I may be tolerant, but I refuse to eat in the middle of the street. I know humans do that more than ever, but that’s an involution process I refuse to experience. We can do much better that that.
