What is a beach without bums?
The Bum Bomb
The Regional Director of Tourism called the Director of the Regional Police to discuss the next measures demanded by the Minister of Tourism. They met at a local bar sandwiched by a two-mile stretch of gorgeous Caribbean Sea and dilapidated touristic infrastructure.
“We must transform our beaches ASAP,” he said. “The minister wants them to be attractive and safe.”
“What do you want me to do with the bums?” the director of the police asked, looking absentmindedly at a bench nearby.
“We must have more of those, of course,” the director of tourism said, obviously looking somewhere else.
“Are you sure about that?” the director of police asked.
“Of course! What is a beach without bums?”
The director of the police assumed that that was part of some populist approach to local tourism, idiosyncrasy, or minority visibility show, as they were used to see politicians do. Thus, he diligently commanded his men and women to pick up all the bums from downtown and bring them right to the beach.
The Director of Tourism wanted the head of the Director of Police after the Minister’s unannounced inspection of their transformation project.
