Whenever we start sourcing for items to purchase for our workplace, it always starts with sourcing the right supplier and subsequently a notable quotation amongst the shortlisted supplier so that we can complete our purchase.

However in recent times, due to the complexity of the things we buy or due to the laziness of procurement teams to seek multiple suppliers, we tend to be at the mercy of the supplier whom tend to charge premium because of the fact that we do not have an alternative supplier and even at times provide horrible support after we purchase their equipment. And this will cause us to lose our competitive advantage.

And this is why, be it end user or procurement, everyone needs to work together to protect the interest of the company. Anyone whom caused a lapse should be reviewed if there are potential conflict of interest.
