Seek God First | You can be the boss of your own emotion

This is somehow related to my previous blog https://peakd.com/hive-161155/@kcwonders/understanding-the-un-understandable-emotions within that week I couldn't imagine that I was going to learn a lesson I will forever keep in my heart and I just thought that I would share it with you guys. This was originally posted on my fb page @seekgodfirstalwaysph.

Be aware of what you're capable of and what's on your mind.
Building a relationship with the Lord won't be all about your feelings. It is a decision you make to turn away from your sinful nature and accept Christ with all your heart, all your soul, and with all your mind. Choosing Jesus would mean living your life for Him and not yourself. But that is another topic that I will also want to share with you soon.

Emotions. Emotions are powerful and if not careful, you may not know what you're capable of. For example, once a person is angry they say things that they don't mean and will most likely hurt the other person, or in the worst-case scenario hurt the person physically because of his/her anger towards the other person.

We were all created by the image and likeness of our Creator. (Genesis 1:26) Which would only mean that our creator has emotions too. Except for the fact that he is far greater than we are and no one can compare to him.

Our emotion is God's gift to us. He didn't create us to be like robots and automatically did what he tells us to, no. He gave us all freedom. Freedom to do everything we want. Except for the things that are forbidden to do because of the law of course.

There are two extreme emotions to look out for:

  1. Stoicism- indifference to pleasure or pain. Giving no sign of feeling or emotion. Or in other words, someone who doesn't show what they feel. Expressionless.
  2. Emotionalism- a tendency to regard things emotionally. undue indulgence in or display of emotion.

As our amygdala is being developed (a part of our mind that helps us make decisions) our decision making is often based or influenced on our feelings. The main job of the amygdala is to regulate emotions, such as fear and aggression. The amygdala is also involved in tying emotional meaning to our memories. Reward processing, and decision-making. Normally this part of our brain will be fully developed somewhere around our 20s. So as a teenager I'd advise my other fellow teenagers out there not to make major decisions given that we haven't fully developed that part of our mind just yet.

Why should we boss our emotions, instead of letting them take control of us?

One way or another if we let our emotions control us, it would most probably lead to the affliction which will lead to more emotions, giving you a lot to deal with mentally.

There are times that you'd understand what you feel and sometimes you just don't. Especially going through puberty. Everything is very unpredictable. One day you just feel so happy with yourself and suddenly you look at the mirror and decide that today isn't such a good day after all. Kidding aside, everything is unpredictable. You could just be so happy and all of a sudden feel so down. And you just don't understand why.

Our emotions aren't at all reliable. It changes from time to time. From "let's go hang out" to "Don't talk to me, I'm not in the mood" real quick. And I honestly understand that we 99% don't understand ourselves. Even the Bible agrees with that. "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?" (Jeremiah 17:9)

image.png

The evil one will use your emotions to control you too. Especially when you're so negative. You tell yourself that you are not worth it, that no one loves you, that you're a nobody who doesn't deserve anything. You are putting yourself down. The evil one will then take advantage of that and you'll then believe the lies that it's telling you. (1 Peter 5:8) Satan will do everything just to make you believe that you aren't worth loving. That you aren't worth it to be a Christian because you have committed sins that you can't even count. You will start believing in these lies if you don't turn back to the Father and ask for his forgiveness and guidance.

You living up to society's standards will not please God. Because you are trying to be someone that you aren't. You are far more someone than who you think you are. You aren't just you, you are a child of God. He loves you so much that he gave his only begotten son.

So if you haven't heard this in a long time; You matter, no matter what others tell you who you are, you matter. Why? Because you are a child of God and he did not create you to be pleasing other people and trying to become someone you're not. You are here for a purpose.

My friends know that no matter what you're feeling, God is real. Don't base God's existence because of how you feel. No matter what is going on in your life, God is real. Everything happens for a reason. And no matter what the lies the evil one tells you, it doesn't change the fact that you are a child of God.

Welcome to Hive @kcwonders! I’m so glad you found your way here.

Reading your blog this morning reminded me of my teenage years and how on fire I was for Christ! I was so excited about growing in Him and wanted to shout to the world of His goodness.

Thank you for this beautiful post and for sharing truth with God’s Word. If there was ever a time Christ needed to be shared it is definitely now. So many are hurting, confused and lost. Seeking God first is the best advice anyone can give, all answers and understanding start with Him.

I am nearing my 40th birthday and I am still learning to not let my emotions control me. What some may fail to realize is it’s not a thing with age. You don’t just become fully in control of your emotions when you reach a certain time in your life. It’s a constant thing you have to work at. There are times I literally have to fight really hard not to let my emotions determine my actions. When we act based on our emotions it can lead us into dark places that we don’t want to be in.

You will start believing in these lies if you don't turn back to the Father and ask for his forgiveness and guidance.

I am so grateful to serve a loving Father who forgives us of our sins and loves us unconditionally.

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭32:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

No matter how much the enemy tries to hold our sins above our heads with lies we know the Lord forgives us of our transgressions and shows us mercy.

I loved the scriptures you used. I hope you continue to let the Lord use you to spread positivity, encouragement and His Word that leads and guides us on the right path.

May He continue to Bless you and Keep you along with those you interact with ~

Thank you so muchfor this you don't know how much this means to me<3
