No matter how difficult it is to walk through this makeshift homeless encampment occupying the downtown area, we have to remember that the people existing-- can we really call it "living"?-- there God's children as much as you or I. Some of these people are veterans from wars overseas, and some of these veterans left parts of themselves overseas. While their bodies aren't whole any longer, their souls remain intact. This is a detail many of us rarely (if ever) consider. That is why I hugged the man who was about to hit me upside the head.
