Growing up in the small village where people believe in tradition and so many other cultural norms that were brought up by our great grandfathers and mothers.
With the world changing everyday,we were still told not to do certain things and eat certain foods.
But as children,we were always mysterious to know why we were refused to do or eat those things.Girls were not allowed to go to school but only gardens to dig,we didn't put on trousers because only men were allowed to or eat chicken as children because it was for only adults.
Children are always curious and eager to know why and what can actually happen if they do those things which they are refused to do.
Well,myself I was among the curious kids and those beliefs and norms didn't make me smile and I wanted to be a better person.
I grew up instead wanting those things that I was told not to wear or eat.once in the while when the elders were not looking I always had the test of chicken and ohh my!
Couldn't keep in the background while the world was growing and discovering new things,so I grew up wanting to one day stand up and fight against all these beliefs.
Though some traditional beliefs are stuck with us for ever,at least the girl child is now allowed to wear trousers and eat chicken.
Yes,we should always stand for what we believe,most times our lives are cut short because of the norms and tradition.
Today,i am that voice that i wanted to be while growing up,doing those things that i believed were okey but society wouldn't agree,going after those things that i thought were imposible to do and be,achieving every dream.
They stopped you then let them not stop you now.you can be what you want to be.
All you have to do is believe.
