Brenda no acostumbraba a entrar en competencias. Su hermana menor insistía en que así nunca podría ganar una y casi con lágrimas en los ojos le exigió que entrara en las municipales de natación con ella.

Sin entender porque su hermanita era tan competitiva, Brenda se negó una vez más y le sugirió que hiciese dúo con Natacha. Las competencias y convertirse en ganadora eran una necesidad para Bárbara, pero un sin sentido para Brenda, porque ella no buscaba ser ganadora sino disfrutar lo que hacía. ¿Sería una línea genética que no había salido en su persona, ni se mostraba en su padre? ¿Tal vez herencia materna?, pensó. A la madre la había conocido poco, menos de dos años decía la abuela.
Brenda disfrutaba todo lo que hacía, trataba de hacer las cosas bien, pero rápidamente dejaba atrás lo que le costaba mucho esfuerzo y lo que no le producía auténtico placer.
Su padre le decía que era como una gaviota, que observaba el escenario desde lejos y luego iba a buscar el pez seleccionado, o volaba disfrutando la brisa y los rayos del sol, también disfrutaba la natación, pero por el placer que encontraba en deslizarse sobre las olas e incluso sumergirse para mirar debajo de ellas; por eso no entendía esas competencias que enloquecían a Bárbara.

Brenda was not used to entering competitions. Her younger sister insisted that this way she could never win one of hers and almost with tears in her eyes she demanded that she enter the municipal swimming competitions with her.
Not understanding why her little sister was so competitive, Brenda refused once again and suggested that she do a duet with Natacha. The competitions and becoming a winner were a necessity for Bárbara, but meaningless for Brenda, because she was not looking to be a winner but to enjoy what she did . Could it be a genetic line that had not come out in her person, nor was it shown in her father? Maternal inheritance maybe?, she thought to herself. She had known her mother little, less than two years, her grandmother said.
Brenda enjoyed everything she did, she tried to do things well, but she quickly left behind what cost her a lot of effort and what did not give her real pleasure.
Her father told her that she was like a seagull, that she observed the stage from afar and then went to look for the selected fish, or she flew enjoying the breeze and the rays of the sun, she also enjoyed the swimming, but for the pleasure she found in gliding on the waves and even diving to look under them; That's why she didn't understand those skills that drove Barbara crazy.
