Absolute or relative truth?

Absolute truth is an elusive concept, for it all depends on the individual perspective of the observer.

Our view of reality is shaped by our own life experience and circumstances, shaped in turn by both internal and external factors.

What for me may be an undeniable truth, for others may simply be a perception conditioned by biases.

We live in an age of half-truths where the confirmation of preconceived positions is more important than the objective exercise of understanding other realities.

This makes dialogue and empathy, so necessary to build fairer and more inclusive societies, very difficult.

However, not everything is so relative. There are universal and objective truths on which we can build a common basis of understanding, although individual interpretation will always vary.

Concepts such as human dignity, solidarity or fundamental rights should be above subjectivities.

We must be humble and open to different views, constantly questioning our own biases in order to come as close as possible to a truth that transcends partial visions.

Only through consensus between different perspectives can we come closer to a more approximate understanding of the reality that surrounds us.

To this end, active listening and the exchange of arguments based on facts, not prior beliefs, are powerful tools.

This is the only way to build a society of understanding.
