acid bath This is my post for #freewriters 2692 Prompt hosted by @mariannewest

My Mom was very religious, and I found it odd that she believed in curses and told me that she believed our family had a curse on it. As I think about it, it must be on my Dad's side, not hers.

My Father had five sons who did not have children by the time they were in their early twenties, and they all died in their late twenties or early thirties.

My brother, who had children, had a son who did not have any by the time he was 25, and he passed before he was 30. My living brother did not live without pain, he drove the car that one of my other brothers died in, and he broke his back in the accident.

In 1976, I think it was before the wreck, he was helping a neighbor jump a dead battery. The battery was new and should not have been dead. The jumper cables were hooked up in the right position. The next thing my brother knew, he was getting an acid bath. He lost his right eye.

Of the other three brothers, one died in Vietnam. This is the only photo I have of him. It is Victor and Tommy.

Dad spent many days at sea shrimping and the woman he married after he divorced their mother put all three of them up for adoption while he was at sea. I also have another sister, but when the Service worker came to get them, my oldest sister hid with Tommy, and they took Victor away. Dad tried but could not find him. In the 1980s or 1990s my sister found the family who adopted him, and they were more than happy to share his life with her. That is how I found out he passed and where it happened. This sister also lost the father of two of her children. He was her ex by the time he was "called to duty".

Another brother was admitted to a hospital and was beaten to death. He had an addiction to smelling gas. My Mom found him under someone's house steps with his head wrapped in a bed sheet that was soaked in gasoline. He was 25.

Left to right is me, my baby brother, a sister, my oldest brother, and another sister. It was taken at the wedding of my brother's son, who passed.

My baby brother worked for a lumber company and was unloading a train with 3/4inch plywood when the band broke and the entire load landed on top of him.

Both of my sons have a child, and my sister's sons have children. Of my brother's two living sons, one has children and the other doesn't. Am I crazy to wish my grandsons would hurry up and have children?

Yes, it is a lot on my shoulders, but I have to accept it as the way life is, for me anyway.

A lot has happened dear.

Yes sir, it sure has.

Definitely here if there is a curse and with reason you want grandchildren soon, because it is not known how long the men of the family will be on this earthly plane.

It is a heavy burden to wonder if they will have children or the other.

What a strong story. No comments. But it really got me

Thank you for reading. I miss my brothers.
