The charming, smooth-talking man she was about to meet had broken more hearts than anyone wanted to tally.
I watched her from across the street as she stood at the café. My heart hammered.
Should I offer help? She might not believe me. She might even rage.
Still I came up front. Though some truths are painful, silence wounds more.
She heard, though her smile faded, she thanked me and departed.
It's good that she might never understand how close she came to catastrophe.
Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is speak when no one else will.
