Asking Questions

in Freewriters13 days ago

So many‍‌‍‍‌ people panic when they get asked a question and are so afraid that if they say the answer out loud they will make a fool of themselves if they're wrong cause people are watching. They don't attempt ask any questions even if they don't understand.

Asking is not a weakness, it is courage and curiosity, and it's wisdom to ask what you don't know.

He who asks will certainly look ignorant for that moment he's asking, but he who doesn't ask is going to be ignorant of the answer forever. So the question I have for you is, who would you rather be, ignorant for a moment or for life?

Learning often comes from that one awkward moment, so that quote is very close to the truth. You could feel embarrassed, the heat on your face, the stumbling over words and then the moment leaving not only the answer but also a little relief.

Many of us pretend that we know because pride seems to look like the safer option as compared to admitting that we are confused and looking stupid. But pretending will do you no good, it'll just stop your intellectual growth. A person who never asks will always be at the same small level of knowledge.

Say it out loud, confess that you don't understand, and ask the question. Teachers, friends, strangers, anyone around, will sometimes provide that piece which is important. You have to want the answer enough to take the shame risk.

Curiosity opens the door to new and unexpected concepts. Most of the great ideas started from a question. Kids ask why and how without any shame whatsoever, that is why they learn so quickly, quicker than adults. Adults could take that habit from them.

Asking keeps you mentally alert. Just one question could totally change what you know and then life would be a bit ‍‌‍‍‌different in the positive direction.
