I use to hear people say “do not despise the words of elders.” I didn’t really understand what that meant until life humbled me in ways I never imagined.
There was a time I thought their words were old-fashioned, too slow for my generation that wanted everything fast and loud. But with time, I began to see the wisdom hidden behind their quiet warnings and gentle laughter. One simple advice, once ignored, later became the very lesson I had to learn the hard way.
Now, whenever an elder speaks, I listen, not just with my ears, but with my heart. Their words may come softly, but they carry years of experience, scars of mistakes, and victories that time has tested. Truly, do not despise the words of elders, for in them lies a map that can save you from unnecessary storms.
