Grant me a wish

in Freewriters5 days ago

It was my 16th birthday. I had always waited for that day when I'll celebrate the age I believed to be golden. Theu call it sweet sixteen.
I once read a book title sweet 16 which was about a girl whose 16th birthday was celebrated in a grand style. This made me began fantasizing how mine would be, the shape it'll take and the kinds of people I'll invite to grace the occasion.
I had some people on my list i really wanted to grant me a wish on that day, one of which was my mentor.
She was someone i so trusted, believed in and loved. I took her as my second mom and she loved me so much too.

Her wishes was something i couldn't afford to miss cause i she was so dear to me. And her prayers for me meant a lot to me and it worked too.

When the day finally came, my mentor couldn’t attend. I was sad at first, but later that evening, she called and said, “My wish for you is strength to stand tall in every season of your life.”
It wasn’t the celebration I had dreamt of, but her words stayed with me. Now I realize that the sweetest part of being sixteen wasn’t the cake or music, it was having someone believe in my dreams and bless my journey.
