Knock! Knock!
The sound of someone requesting to come in,
Gosh! He slept off leaving his rice on the gas cooker, he was so blessed by God that the rice was just getting burnt,he was so blessed that there was a knock on the door.
Hy! Tom foss says, his friend from long ago, he had not been such a fast type of person but Joe still liked him,it seemed Joe has not been too lucky with tall people except for the Hausa boy in his secondary school days,everyone called him "ruler" cos he was thought to be the yard stick to measure anybody's height,
What really attracted him to tom foss? Only a blind will not notice how close they where but yet he knew nothing,absolute nothing about Tom's love life, he at times ask himself whether he is gay or there was a defect while he was created that he doesn't feel emotionally attached to a member of the opposite sex.
"Any way,he is my friend and that's what matters", Joe said to himself,"at least we don't get to fight over trivial matters"
Did he just say trivial matter?
Was Joe not the one that almost deleted Tom from his life's friend list,or was it not a trivial matter when Tom got a part time job without informing him about the success?
Any way,it all depend on people's definition of "trivial matters ".
"Hy Tom! You look fresh", Joe said,"is it for the few days you have not gone to work"? Tom also has admission into the college and has been around campus for quite some days now.
" my broda,life e no easy o" Tom answered in the native Nigerian pidgin,
"Wait! Bobo,weting happen na? Since when you start to the speak pidgin"?
Joe could not help but pin point,
Tom has always been an official man,dresses official and speaks English as if he has forgotten his mother is not from england, he always have this smile on his face that even if you were angry,the mare sight of his smile can keep you laughing, to him, life should be taken so simple,you don't worry yourself about what you can't handle,and Joe envies him for that fact,
" Are you aware that the time table is out?" Tom ask as he took his sit on the plastic chair behind the round plastic table,
"Serious? Bro that's awesome for a start,I will come to the house to get a photocopy" Joe shoots back as if he had already envisaged what Tom will say and what he will respond.
"Wait a minute,who is this beautiful lady you are with? " Joe couldn't help but notice that Tom has not formally introduced the average height slender beautiful damsel he was with, infact,it seemed she was not there,and she just stood there watching them exchange pleasantries and couldn't bother saying a word,wait! Why would she when she was as sad as an hungry snail,a whole lot was going on in her life and it takes a gifted man to know she was disturbed because she never looked disturbed
"you mean you don't know Jesse"? Tom ask with a relentless effort
" Hy Jesse,sorry about my manners," Joe responded "I am practically not good at remembering people's faces,by the way,I think I will be able to remember your face because its a beautiful one"
"Does your brain only remember beautiful faces? Jesse ask and they all laughed.
Food is served,though a little burnt,the rice still had some taste,
" hmm,its awesome seeing a guy that cooks,that means your wife will be a happy woman"Jesse jokes
Gosh! Does tom now have a date?
Is it that few days in school has changed him,what stops me from being her friend if she is Tom's date?
Why is she looking at him like that,does she already love him?
