Cuando comencé a estudiar en la universidad no conocía muchas personas. Literalmente todos los compañeros de clase con los que vi el primer semestre no los conocía. Algunos ya se conocían y estaba yo y como otros cinco más que no conocíamos a nadie. Por mi parte ya sabía algunas cosas que no debía hacer como caminar con el grupo entero, que, por lo general, era una manera de detectar a los nuevos ingresos, un grupo grande de estudiantes que por lo general van hablando en voz alta.
Con saber eso, por lo general, no iba con la manada, solía ir solo, el grupo iba adelante y le tenía de distancia como tres o cuatro metros. Y así me acostumbré prácticamente, no era de caminar lento, generalmente era de caminar entre rápido y muy rápido. Entonces me tocaba ir frenado para no rebasarles, pero ya al salir tomaba mi rumbo, nos despedíamos entre todos y cada quien agarraba su rumbo. Algunos cruzaban por la pasarela y otros seguían derecho a tomar el bus que los llevaría a la parte este de la ciudad.
En ocasiones solía ir derecho, pero no cruzaba, de esa manera no iría hacia el oeste de la ciudad sino al este, era un camino o ruta alternativa si la parada de la universidad estaba muy llena. Que sobre todo para las horas pico la parada estaba insoportable, mucha gente y los autobuses por lo general no se detenían, algunos lo hacían, pero o muy atrás de la parada o muy adelante, con la intención de que no se subieran. En esos casos muchos se iban, nuevamente a cruzar la pasarela y bajar para tomar otro bus más abajo.
Algunos seguían por la misma vía y abajo cruzaban, pero era peligroso porque al ser arterial vial importante y en recta los vehículos generalmente iban muy rápido. Recuerdo que varias oportunidades en la época de lluvia me tocaban en la parada esperar mucho tiempo, y tenía que cruzar la pasarela para tomar la otra vía y rápido antes que llegara la lluvia, porque tronaba como cinco veces y caía tremendo diluvio.
Como eso es una zona de arboles en la vía era peligroso por los rayos, si servían para proteger de la lluvia, en el tramo de la universidad, porque luego era acera normal, con la pepa del sol y sin árbol, si la lluvia comenzaba a caer ahí, yo tenía dos opciones que hacían casi el 90% de las personas, correr hasta el paso peatonal y cruzar la vía para resguardarse en la parada o si no venía vehículos correr y cruzar la avenida antes de que se pusiera jabonosa y llegar a la parada más rápido que el resto. El que llegaba tarde se mojaba, porque la parada tampoco era muy grande y si había gente pues tocaba mojarse o montarse en el primer bus que pasara.

And that's how I got used to it, I was not a slow walker, I usually walked between fast and very fast. Then I had to slow down so as not to overtake them, but when I left I would take my course, we would say goodbye to each other and everyone would go their own way. Some would cross the footbridge and others would go straight ahead to catch the bus that would take them to the eastern part of the city.
Sometimes I used to go straight, but I did not cross, that way I would not go to the west of the city but to the east, it was an alternative way or route if the university bus stop was very full. That especially for rush hour the stop was unbearable, lots of people and the buses usually did not stop, some did, but either far behind the stop or far ahead, with the intention that they would not get on. In those cases many would leave, again to cross the footbridge and get off to catch another bus further down.
Some continued on the same road and crossed down, but it was dangerous because it was a major arterial road and the vehicles were generally going very fast. I remember that several times during the rainy season I had to wait a long time at the bus stop, and I had to cross the footbridge to take the other road and quickly before the rain came, because it thundered about five times and a tremendous downpour fell.
As this is an area of trees on the road it was dangerous because of the lightning, if they were used to protect from the rain, in the section of the university, because then it was a normal sidewalk, with the sun and no trees, if the rain began to fall there, I had two options that almost 90% of the people did, run to the crosswalk and cross the road to take shelter at the stop or if no vehicles were coming, run and cross the avenue before it got soapy and get to the stop faster than the rest. Those who arrived late got wet, because the bus stop was not very big and if there were people, they had to get wet or get on the first bus that passed by.
