-Hi, love. Where are the kids?
-I think they are playing in their room.
-Oh, I see. I can’t hear them though.
-Yes, I agree with you. They are characteristically quiet.
-I would say they are unusually quiet. Would you like to go upstairs and check what they are doing?
-OK, I’m on my way. (talking to the kids) Hi, are you OK?
-Yeah, yeah, we’re fine. We are just reading some really interesting books.
-Ah, that’s why you are so quiet. Reading books? I really find it hard to believe. You usually shout at each other over a Monopoly game or while playing a video game. Well, my kids have finally started growing up!
