Solid ground: five minutes freewrite

"Congratulations, Anita. Kindly find attached below your appointment letter and all nedded documents."

That was the email i received three months back. Eight months of applying for jobs, both online and onsite, and eight months of attending interviews with no feed back. That email that day brought so much relief and happiness. "Wow, i finally have a job! Finally off the labour market," as people would say. Those were the thoughts that filled my mind.

I quickly checked the email, read through my appointment letter, filled and signed every document, scanned, and emailed it back. I resumed work the following week with so much enthusiasm, ready and willing to contribute my all to the company's growth .

Entering the building with expressionless faces staring at me felt like accepting the job was a wrong decision. For three days, i was invisible; everyone was moving to and fro, attending to their duties, and here i was, looking for a way to speak to the HR or Head of department.

Alas, i was visible on the fourth day and was directed to who to meet and get acquainted with my job role. Settling in, understanding my job, creating balance, working with time, making friends, and being welcomed was really difficult, but eventually, i found a solid ground after three months of disorder, violence, noise and unsolicited advice.
