My alternative lifestyle
James, an archaeologist, decided to stay for the time being and adapt to his new world.
His lifestyle has changed: he needs to find a way back to Earth, but he can't go back immediately.
James thinks.
"My alternative lifestyle is to live with the wizard Merlin, follow him around, help him, and be given room and board. "
He agrees to help you clean the house, run errands, and go hunting. The wizard Merlin agrees and allows him to stay in his home for the time being.
He can't live the life of a scholar, travelling to libraries and presenting at conferences, as he does on Earth. His lifestyle changes to that of the Middle Ages.
The wizard Merlin sets off with James to go to the shops in the centre of town to buy the necessary supplies.
They wander through the greengrocer, butcher, and grocery store to buy what they need. James looks around to see what they sell and what ingredients are available.
There were no spices here, and even if there were something similar, it was too expensive and rare.
He thought he could make a lot of money selling pepper.
Black pepper is a vine in the pepper family, and its fruit is used as a spice. It is native to the Malabar Coast of South India. It was the spice that led the Portuguese Vasco da Gama to discover India. In the past, it was called black gold.
James thinks, "If I could travel to and from Earth through a portal, I would be rich if I brought something like black pepper to sell."

채소가게, 정육점, 생필품 가게를 돌아다니며 필요한 것을 샀습니다. 이곳에서 파는 것이 무엇이고 어떤 재료들이 있는 지 제임스는 살펴보았습니다.
이곳에서는 향신료가 없었고 비슷한 것이 있다고 해도 너무 비싸고 귀했습니다.
후추를 팔면 많은 돈을 벌 수 있겠다고 생각했습니다.
후추는 후추과의 덩굴 식물로, 그 열매를 양념으로 쓴다. 남인도의 말라바 해안이 원산지이다. 포르투갈의 바스쿠 다 가마가 인도 발견에 나서게 한 향신료이기도 하다. 과거에는 검은 황금이라고 불렀다.
제임스는 "만약에 포털을 통해 지구와 왕래가 가능하다면 후추와 같은 것을 가지고와 판매를 한다면 부자가 될 것이다" 라고 생각합니다.
