There's a Swahili saying that goes, "Mpanda ngazi hushuka." Roughly translated: Whoever goes up the ladder will surely come down.
On our way up, we are taught never to look down on those we pass. One day, we might need them on the way down.
But we’re only human — we err, we despise. You see it on the streets: a rude person dismissing the homeless man, judging his worth simply because he lives on the street.
But imagine if we never looked down on anyone. Not that colleague who didn’t get the job when you did. Not that old lady at the market, selling vegetables just to get by.
We are all human. All with one heart and soul.
