Some prepare a soup with the yellow pulp inside but this is not so common.

The Nigerian pumpkin leaves on the other hand has more commercial value.

The leaf is called ugu. It's used in the making of a delicious Vegetable which can be eaten with a variety of swallow such as èbà, àmàlà, fùfú and the rest.1591645875465.jpg

Some eat it with yam or potato

it's sometimes blended and taken as smoothies because it's packed with nutrient and health benefits.

èbà ( is mada from dried grated cassava flour)
Àmàlà ( made from yam flour)
Fùfú ( is made from cassava flour or unripe plantain flour)

Hi @wems, thanks for posting about the Nigerian Pumpkin or fluted pumpkin. It is the most unusual pumpkin that I ever saw. Does the Nigerian Pumpkin taste anything like the orange pumpkins?

Thanks for reading @smh01,glad you enjoyed it.

On your question, I am not really sure, like I mentioned few people uses the fluted pumpkin it self to make soup,we mostly eat the fleshy milky part of the seed. The seed looks like that of a Cocoa pod.

And I have never eaten an orange pumpkin.

Thanks for sharing about Nigerian culture. Your photos look great. It was cool to learn more about a fruit that I had never heard of before.

Thank you @sumatranate.
I experience that a lot here.
Learning about food and agricultural produce you have never seen or heard of.

It's interesting.😊

I do enjoy learning something new while reading a freewrite! Those sound like foods I would like to try some day.

That would be really nice...
They are actually some of Nigerians well liked cuisines.🤗

Cool looking. Quick visit from Uncle Bruni 💕🙏

Thanks for reading.😀

My groundhogs would love those leaves. It's interesting that the foliage, not the fruit, is what is usually eaten. I wonder if it would grow where I live.
