The wait

"When will you stop staring out that window?" Chike said
"You have been standing there every night for the past 10 years."
"Ten years is a long time to come to your senses!" She chided.
"Please come to your senses!" "He's not coming back." Chike shouted at her sister, Augusta.

Augusta didn't move an inch, nor did she utter a word. It wasn't her sister's job to trust him. It was hers. She had promised for better for worse with him. He was the most honest man she had ever met.
That night, when he took his bag and made a promise to come back a successful man, she trusted him to keep to his promise.

Chike hissed and walked to her room when she couldn't get a word out of her.

Tomorrow night, she will yell at her again while Augusta stares out the window, waiting....
